But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. But if someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic.
See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all.
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble in spirit. Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but give a blessing instead; for to this you were called, that you may inherit a blessing. and we toil, working with our own hands. When we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure;
No, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head."
And when he had said this, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, "Is that the way you answer the high priest?" Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken wrongly, bear witness to the wrong; but if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?"
Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists; and others slapped him,
