And I on my part say to thee, that thou art Peter, a rock, and on this rock will I build my church, and the gates of the underworld shall not prevail against it.

At my first defence no one came forward with me, but all forsook me. May it not be laid to their charge! But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that the preaching might be fully accomplished by me, and that all the gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the lions mouth. Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his abundant mercy, begot us again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance imperishable, and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who are guarded by the power of God through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time;

And fear not those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. But I will warn you whom to fear; fear him who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say to you, fear him. What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against the chosen of God? Women received back their dead by a resurrection; but others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection; and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, and also of bonds and imprisonment; they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword; they went about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented, of whom the world was not worthy; they wandered in deserts and mountains, and caves and the clefts of the earth. Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being accomplished in your brethren in the world. But the God of all grace, who called you to his everlasting glory in Christ Jesus, will, after ye have suffered a while, himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.

Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer. Behold, now, the Devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye will have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

And one of the elders answered, saying to me, These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and whence came they? And I said to him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he that sitteth on the throne will make his abode with them.read more.
They shall hunger no more, nor thirst any more; neither shall the sun fall upon them, nor any burning heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst before the throne is a shepherd to them, and leadeth them to the fountains of the waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
