Besides, to this you were called; for even Christ suffered for us, leaving us a pattern, that you should follow his footsteps;

so that he no longer lives his remaining time in the flesh, to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

He who says he abides in him, ought, himself, also, so to walk even as he walked.

These are they who have not been polluted with women; for they are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb whithersoever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, as the first fruits to God, and to the Lamb.

And for this very reason, indeed, giving all diligence, add to your faith, courage; and to courage, knowledge; and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love:

Beloved, now we are the children of God; but it does not yet appear what we shall be. However, we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him-that we shall see him as he is. And every one who has this hope in him purifies himself, even as He is pure.

And by this, we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments.

And whatever we ask, we receive from him; because we keep his commandments, and do the things which are pleasing in his sight.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome;
