Nerf Super Soaker XP55 Review

Nerf has seen decent success with their “reimagining” of classic designs in the soaker space. I was especially fond of the XP100 which, naming conventions aside, balanced tribute and performance quite well.

This year’s XP55 is less successful in that regard. The overall looks are there, and the blaster shoots up to 30′. So for the casual user, it works. But as the odd person who still has three original XP55s from their childhood, the blaster leaves me unsatisfied.

Nerf Super Soaker Power Drench XL Review

Power Drench marks the return of both Constant Pressure System (CPS) blasting and the Quick-Fill Device (QFD), two things that have been missing from water warfare for a while. The smaller of the two blasters in the line, sadly, was largely a disappointment, between the low volume, tiny shots, and the price.

Luckily, the Power Drench XL is a far better buy. Between appreciably large shots and a true “flood” mode, the Power Drench XL is not just capable in battle, but it also makes the user feel like they’re actually doing something. When a soaker has actual kick to it, you know you have a winner.

Adventure Force Tidal Striker Quick Review

The competition for “cheap” soakers remains fierce, with plenty of options in the $10-$15 range. This year, Walmart got Buzz Bee Toys to make the Tidal Striker, a derivative of their “Steady Stream” type blasters that have seen variants for over a decade. However, this is perhaps the lowest capacity I’ve seen from this kind of blaster (only 18.5 fl. oz), and the pump volume is low enough that the “Steady Stream” mechanism may as well be useless. It would seem in this case, too much was given up.

Worker Kunlun Review

Note: Thanks to Out of Darts for sending me a free sample to try and review!

The Worker Kunlun (pronounced “Kwin-lin” I think) took longer to review than I wanted – typically 200fps is the highest I get to play at unless it’s a competitive PvP format. Between limited game options and even more limited time to actually attend games (my work schedule eliminates 99% of Saturday events), it took until this month to actually use the Kunlun in battle.

The end result? The Kunlun is everything it promises to be – and if you’re a fan of bolt-action blasting, oh man are you going to be happy!

Out of Darts Yolo Mod Kit Review

Here’s something I don’t get to do as often: review a mod kit! At the end of last year, after seeing Luchathor’s prototype at Ragnarocktoberfest, Out of Darts jumped on licensing and selling this kit for the Dart Zone Max Solo. After all, making a “Pro Jolt” magazine-fed with just a few parts is a huge quality of life improvement, even if your playstyle is casual.

To that end, I added both the mod kit and a Purple Dart Zone Max Solo to my last Out of Darts order. And while I haven’t brought it to a game yet, the results are quite promising for this little blaster.

Xshot Pro Skins Fury-X Review

At long last, I’ve been able to both attend an actual Nerf war and test new things while I was there. To that end, let’s take a peek at the Xshot Pro Skins Fury-X!

There are already some other reviews out there (along with 3d printed parts and add-ons), but adding an experienced voice can’t hurt!

Nerf Super Soaker Mega Dunk-Fill Revew

The work schedule hasn’t been friendly for making it to Nerf wars That’s left me having as much fun as I can with soakers and gel ball blasters at home – and letting the wife shoot me a lot. In that spirit – and even when it’s freezing outside – let’s review the next soaker from this spring’s selection!

The Nerf Super Soaker Mega Dunk-Fill works exactly as advertised, and puts a fair bit of water downrange. Just don’t be tilting it up and down a lot unless you want to siphon out all your water!
