ARE THESE HUTCH CRANKS REAL !!!!

Ok i have been keeping a eye out on ebay watching for some parts that i need and ran across these !!!

So i just purchased a PK ripper with unstamped profile cranks ......here is my pic

But saw these on ebay being sold as hutch cranks ......

here is the ebay action and pics

http://cgi.ebay.com/First-Generation-Hu … dZViewItem

If you look in the first photo the crank star has Profile engraved in the star.youcan read clearly....

What im asking are these the Fake Hutch Cranks another member was telling me about in this post ??

Those are unstamped profile/GT cranks....i had a set...did little under 200 on ebay.  Some guys try to pass them off as Hutchins cranks, so be careful.  Good looking PK!  Hope to see it all built and cleaned up soon!  They make very cool riders!!

Jon

Juts trying to figure out if these are real and if they are the same unstamped profile cranks i have ????
You guys know best !!!

Thanks
Chuck

Re: ARE THESE HUTCH CRANKS REAL !!!!

You have unstamped PROFILE cranks.... NOT Hutch.

Unstamped Profile cranks are from the later 80's and very early 90's.

They are good cranks..... but they have nothing to do with Hutch.

Look at the pics of his cranks star and it reads hutch clearly !!!

I dont want hutch cranks i want profile so it is no concern to me but are the hutch cranks he is selling on ebay  , profiles or hutchs ???? Thats all i was asking !!!!

They look the same as mine BUT with Hutch stickers !!!

Re: ARE THESE HUTCH CRANKS REAL !!!!

I see what you're asking now....

Here's the histoy..... Profile was making cranks that looked just like his auction in the very early 80s and they were called odessey by profile cranks.... then Hutch came along and wanted Profile to make cranks for them and they would just put a "HUTCH" decal on them (like the auction).... and that's what they did. The cranks in the auction are first gen profile or Hutch cranks.

They are different from yours... I know at first they look similar, but yours are rounded or oval while the ones in the auction are squared. They had a different manufacturing process for these different versions. The square ones were folded plate while the rounded ones are tubular.

I guess it's time for this info to go into the R&R section soon.

Re: ARE THESE HUTCH CRANKS REAL !!!!
