Paul Love Lever Brake Lever

  • Overview...
  • Created for mountain bikes, but popular for BMX racing bikes too
  • Available in both a two-finger (Compact) and three-finger (2.5) design
  • Unveiled on 10/4/2016 via the following video - https://vimeo.com/185606388
  • This model can be thought of as the fourth (maybe fifth?) Love Lever version - the previous versions had a hollow pivot
  • CNC machined in house (Chico, CA) to exacting specifications using the finest materials
  • Love Levers are one of Paul's perennial best sellers, and they believe you'll love the action and the ergonomics of these beauties
  • Their design balances comfort and weight without feeling flimsy in your hand
  • Details...
  • Designed for two-finger (Compact) or three-finger (2.5) operation and easy adjustment
  • The "Compact" lever blade is about 20mm shorter than the "2.5" model - the Compact fits two fingers comfortably and weighs less

  • Compatible with all long-pull cable operated brakes
  • Recommend for use with Paul Motolite brakes
  • Will work well paired with any v-brake, mechanical disk brake, or other long pull brake
  • Don't have a return spring - the springs in the brake arms will have to close the lever
  • The pivot features a sealed cartridge bearing - super smooth and has zero play
  • A 5mm set screw in the side of the lever perch allows you to adjust the reach, setting the distance from the bar to the lever to fit your hands
  • Barrel adjusters are included for fine-tuning your brakes, and their oversized design and smooth shape makes it easy to adjust them by hand
  • Technical information...
  • Material: billet 6061-T6 aluminum
  • Weight: 125g (Compact), 137g (2.5)
  • Finish: anodized
  • Anodized colors: black, polished, silver, green, red
  • Intended brake use: linear brakes
  • Brake lever actuation: long pull
  • Cable pull: TBD
  • Reach: TBD
  • Clamp size: 22.2mm (equivalent to 7/8") - standard for BMX bars
  • Lever length (outside of clamp to end of lever): 51mm (Compact), 70mm (2.5)
  • Adjustment: cable barrel, adjustable reach
  • Lever includes installation instructions and a Paul logo sticker
  • Hot lever tip of the day: Do not over-tighten the lever clamp screw - it's better that the lever moves in a crash than bend

  • Made in U.S.A. (Chico, CA)

What's Lovely about the Love Levers?

0% Slop. That's what.

Listen, nobody's perfect, right?

Your clothes don't always make it to the hamper. Your beard hair is at least part of the problem with the bathroom sink. And that's your tupperware in the fridge that smells like sour beans...because it is sour beans. That are now furry.

But there are some areas in life that have a 0% slop policy.

Areas where you don't mess around.

Maybe you arrange your records alphabetically by genre, or you have a fifteen minute process for brewing perfect coffee every morning.

Or maybe, like us, you're obsessive when it comes to design. So obsessive that designs are never truly done, as they're constantly evolving over time.

Which is why our Love Levers have recently changed.

They've evolved to be - 100% Smooth with 0% Slop.

Meaning there's no wiggle room in the lever. Zero. Doesn't budge.

How'd we do it?

The short answer - It's got a new cartridge bearing pivot.

It lasts longer, and it  feels...perfect.

AND IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT:

Evolution is sort of the theme of our next few videos. We shot a lot of footage outlining our design process but decided to hack them up into shorter clips. In this one, we've got Paul and Jim discussing the Love Lever and the way it's evolved and been re-engineered as new inspiration and industry developments have been met.
