Meet Steve Johnson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steve Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I would have to say I get my resilience from my dad. Growing up, my dad couldn’t read or write due to not being able to go to school because he had to work. Due to his lack of education, my dad had a hard time finding a job. When I was born, my dad worked for a lumber yard and there were days that his car would break down. When it would break down, he would walk MILES back and forth to work to make sure he provided for his family. My dad also had a hard time working most jobs because he couldn’t read and write, but he always found a way to make it through. So, at 16, I started working at a manufacturing plant to help my dad put food on the table. My dad always told me how proud he was of me and pushed me to keep going. He always treated people with respect and the upmost kindness. I hope to always have the resilience my dad showed me. If life knocks me down, I will always get back up.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello! We are Steve Johnson and Shannon Johnson, and we are the owners of Paradise Acres. We are a photography venue that shares the splendor of our land and props with people to enhance the beauty of their photos. Clients can rent spaces and props on our venue to do their photography sessions. We provide individual props as well as backdrop arrangements. We take pride in creating these special setups to make photo sessions easy and simple. We feel that photos are memories that can last a lifetime. When our loved ones are gone, these photos remain and remind us of the special moments we had with them. We at Paradise Acres get such a great blessing by being a part of capturing these sweet moments.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
To think back now, I would say I’ve learned more by listening rather than talking and there is never a stupid question. Always ask questions because you’ll never learn if you don’t ask. Another quality to have is to read. Readers are Leaders. When you want to start a business or project, the best thing you can do is read and do research.
Lastly, another quality is to lead by example. Never ask your peers to do something you are not willing to do yourself.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
Our ideal client is someone who wants to capture special memories. We take pride in creating setups that families and photographers use to create these memories for lasting photographs. Our goal is to work with clients who are looking for a beautiful place to capture these sweet moments.
