This Ford Pickup 1935-1936 got away, but there are more like it here.

This hot rod was built by Chris Clark of Ace Fabrication in Clever, Missouri, over the course of eight years using a modified 1936 Ford pickup cab mounted to a hand-fabricated steel frame. Power comes from a 327ci Chevrolet V8 that breathes through quadruple Holley 94-style carburetors, and it is backed by a T-5 five-speed manual transmission and a 9” rear end. Highlights of the build include a 5″-chopped roof, a tapered grille surround, a louvered tailgate, ’36 Ford coupe headlights, pinched frame horns, and drilled accents throughout. The channeled and sectioned cab features a ’46-style dashboard, black upholstery, a cast-aluminum steering wheel, and Daytona carpets. The truck rides on an air suspension system with 16” and 18” wheels, and additional components include a Weiand intake manifold, modified double-hump cylinder heads, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. After the build was completed in 2021, the truck graced the cover of Ol’ Skool Rodz magazine. Acquired by the seller in 2022, this custom Ford pickup is now offered with a soft tonneau cover and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The cab was acquired by the builder and channeled, sectioned, and chopped by 5” before it was mounted to a frame constructed from rectangular steel tubing that sweeps over the rear axle and curves seamlessly into the rear crossmember. The front horns are pinched, and drilled accents have been added to structural elements as well as the integrated brackets and supports. A tapered grille surround was installed along with ’36 coupe headlight buckets.

A reproduction bed from Mack Products was sectioned and modified with a louvered tailgate and lower valance, and the truck was then painted in a custom shade of yellow. Details include a polished windshield frame, hardware, and rear bumper as well as black grille bars and front radius rods.

Wheel Vintiques 16” front and 18” rear wheels are finished in black and wear polished hubcaps and trim rings. They are wrapped in 6.00” and 7.50” reproduction Firestone tires, respectively. The AccuAir suspension system incorporates ride-height sensors, and the front drop axle is joined by a ’57 Ranchero rear end with drilled radius rods and a panhard bar. Braking is handled by drums all around. Polished stainless-steel hard lines are mounted inside the frame rails.

The 327ci Chevrolet V8 features ported and polished cylinder heads, and induction is through a Weiand WC intake manifold topped with quadruple Holley 94-style carburetors. Polished “rams horn” exhaust manifolds flow into a stainless-steel exhaust system with a single outlet tucked into a rear bumper cutout. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a T-5 five-speed manual transmission and a 9” third member.

The interior is trimmed in black tuck-and-roll upholstery that extends to the headliner, divided bench seat, and door panels. A ’46-style dashboard was installed, and color-coordinated Daytona carpets line the floors. The transmission passes through the cab and has a polished bell housing and shifter lever, and the body-color driveshaft cover was fabricated from bead-rolled steel. A Bussmann-style fuse panel is mounted under the dash along with an MSD ignition module.

The Squeeg’s Kustoms cast-aluminum steering wheel sits ahead of a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges with converted internal workings and refinished dials. The odometer, speedometer, and clock do not work. Total mileage is unknown.

The bed houses a body-color fuel tank, an air tank, and a radiator with an electric puller fan. A spade-shaped cutout accents the drilled upper crossbar. A removable tonneau cover will accompany the truck.
