This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is a Canadian-built two-door sedan that is said to have been acquired by the seller’s father in 1973. A subsequent refurbishment performed between 2014 and 2017 involved a repaint as well as installation of a 350ci General Motors CT350 V8 mated to a Borg-Warner Super T10 four-speed manual transmission. Finished in a coral and gray paint scheme, the car rides on 15″ Rally wheels and is equipped with front disc brakes as well as a dual exhaust system with long-tube headers and a crossover pipe. Inside, bench seats trimmed in black vinyl and gray cloth are accompanied by a billet steering wheel paired with a floor-mounted Hurst shifter. This Bel Air is now offered in Canada with a collection of spare parts and British Columbia registration in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Seastone Coral and Oxford Grey Metallic and was repainted as part of the aforementioned mid-2010s refurbishment. It features a hood ornament, an egg-crate grille, and hooded headlamps along with chrome bumpers and trim. The radio antenna is missing, and the seller notes various scratches in the paintwork and glass.
The 15″ Rally wheels feature body-color centers and wear chrome trim rings. They are mounted with 245/50 Cooper Cobra tires. A disc-brake conversion has been performed up front, while drums are retained out back. The system is fed by a Corvette-sourced master cylinder.
The cabin is said to have been refreshed circa 2000 and houses a split-folding front bench seat trimmed in black vinyl and patterned gray fabric. Matching upholstery extends to the rear bench along with the door panels. Further details include a dash-mounted clock, an AM radio, a heater, and vent windows. The dome light is missing, and the seller notes rust stains in the headliner.
The billet steering wheel is paired with a floor-mounted Hurst T-handle shifter. A 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges from AutoMeter have been installed in place of the factory units. The retrofitted digital odometer shows 748 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 350ci General Motors CT350 circle track V8 was installed in 2016 and features a cast-iron block and Vortec-style cylinder heads in addition to a dual-plane aluminum intake manifold, a dual-pattern camshaft, and an eight-quart oil pan. The engine is further equipped with a Holley carburetor and accompanied by an aluminum radiator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner Super T10 four-speed manual transmission that was added at the time of the engine installation. The dual exhaust system is comprised of long-tube headers flowing into a crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers.
