This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette was sold new by Stohlman Chevrolet in Washington, D.C., and a refurbishment was completed in the 1990s. Acquired by the seller in 1995, the car is finished in black with silver coves over a red interior and is powered by a 283ci V8 that is backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ steel wheels, lap belts, and a cassette stereo. This C1 is now offered with a copy of the original sales invoice, the owner’s manual, and a Maryland title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in black, the car was repainted during the refurbishment with silver coves. Equipment includes a black soft top, quadruple headlights, split chrome bumpers, fender vents, and dual exhaust outlets.
Steel 15″ wheels feature spinner-style covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The car came equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension and semi-elliptical rear leaf springs.
The cabin houses two bucket seats trimmed in red vinyl along with a color-coordinated dash pad, carpets, and door panels. Equipment includes, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, lap belts, and a cassette stereo. The removed radio is included in the sale.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a sweeping 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary readouts. The five-digit odometer shows 1,300 miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The CQ-code 283ci V8 has been fitted with dual carburetors, and it sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission.
Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below. Corrosion on the chassis is noted.
A copy of the original sales invoice shows that the car was initially purchased from Stohlman Chevrolet in Washington, D.C. on July 18, 1958.
The current Maryland title carries a “Not Actual Mileage” brand.
