This GT40 replica was purchased as a kit from DRB Sportscars of Australia, and was reportedly first brought to California in the early 2000s before being purchased as a rolling shell by the seller in 2014. Work performed over the next three years consisted of finishing the exterior in blue with white racing stripes, fitting a black vinyl interior, and installation of a 347ci Ford V8 as well as a Porsche G50 5-speed manual transaxle. Details of the build include Mahle forged pistons, a COMP camshaft, a Holley 650 carburetor, MagnaFlow mufflers, an engine oil cooler, an aluminum radiator, AVO coilovers, front and rear sway bars, air conditioning, and more. This GT40 replica is offered with build receipts and photographs, a manufacturer’s statement of origin, a construction manual, and an Oregon title in the seller’s name listing it as a 1965 Ford replica.
The fiberglass body is finished in metallic blue with painted stripes and number meatballs. Equipment includes a third brake light located in the rear window, Lexan side windows, Hella lights, remote powered mirrors, and functional NACA ducts in the fenders that provide air to the cabin.
A walk-around and start-up video is provided above. Halibrand-style 17″ Team III wheels measure 8″ and 11″ wide at the front and rear respectively, and are mounted with Nitto G2 555 tires that were reportedly installed within the last 300 miles. The braking system includes slotted rotors from a C4 Corvette, dual master cylinders, stainless steel lines, a proportioning valve, and functional cooling ducts.
The cabin features an integral roll bar, carbon fiber door trim, and ring-ventilated seats trimmed in black vinyl, with the driver’s side featuring a 1″ drop. An A/C system from Vintage Air is equipped along with a built-in radar detector, Dynamat sound deadening, Tilton pedals with a balance bar, a removable NRG steering wheel, and a JVC CD/USB stereo mounted in the driver’s door.
The black dashboard houses VDO Vision gauges as well as warning lights for the brakes, volts, and oil pressure. A screen mounted forward of the shifter acts as a monitor for the rear-view camera, and a GPS speedometer sender and fire suppression system are equipped. The digital odometer shows 3k miles.
The 347ci Ford V8 was purchased from Fordstrokers in 2015 and installed by the seller. Features include a machined 302 block, a SCAT stroker crankshaft, SCAT forged connecting rods, Mahle forged pistons, a COMP roller camshaft, Clevite 77 bearings, and Trick Flow Twisted Wedge cylinder heads. An MSD 6AL digital ignition system with a rev limiter, an MSD billet distributor, a Holley 650 double-pumper carburetor, and other items are also equipped as detailed in a document provided by the seller in the gallery below.
Shifting is through a Porsche G50 5-speed manual transaxle featuring a Kennedy clutch, pressure plate, and adapter plate. A transaxle cooler with twin SPAL fans is also equipped. MagnaFlow mufflers are fed by Jet-Hot-coated “bundle of snakes” headers.
An aluminum radiator with an electric fan is located under the front clamshell. Other equipment includes an aluminum water pump, an engine oil cooler with remote filter, titanium heat shields, and rock shields on the front and rear inner fenders.
The suspension is said to utilize C4 Corvette front control arms, adjustable rear heim joints, machined aluminum rear uprights, AVO coilovers with adjustable damping valves, and sway bars with nickel-plated end links.
A manufacturer’s statement of origin, DRB GT40 construction manual, and photos documenting the build are included in the sale along with receipts for the engine, wheels, and more. The build was also chronicled on a forum thread by the seller.
A drive-by video is provided above, and an additional driving video can be found here.
