This 1966 Ford Galaxie 7-Litre is a largely unmodified example that has been in the same family for 50 years. The car has 91k miles and was purchased new by the seller’s great-grandfather. It has always been kept in a garage and received oil changes every 3000 miles, most recently in January. The car was optioned with power steering, power windows, power door locks, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, reclining passenger seat with headrest, convenience control panel, courtesy light group, tinted windows, tinted windshield, and Selectaire air conditioning. The car is offered with no reserve and a clean Colorado title.
The paint is said to be original apart from a driver-side quarter panel that received accident repair in 1969. Though it still shines, some fading is present along the front fenders as detailed in the photo gallery below. Original glass, lenses, and brightwork appear to be in good condition apart from a crack in the windshield.
The body contains several scratches and dings, along with a considerable dent in the passenger-side door as seen above. According to the seller, the passenger-side rear rocker trim has become loose.
The trunk retains its original liner and spare, though the jack is no longer with the car.
The interior shows well and is original apart from an aftermarket Alpine head-unit in place of the original 8-track player. The car is well-equipped with options including power steering, windows, door locks, and driver’s seat, along with reclining passenger’s seat, a convenience control panel, courtesy light group, tinted glass, and air conditioning.
The dealer installed Thunderbird floor mats are still in place and in good condition. The air conditioning does not function and is said to require a rebuild. The rear electric windows do not operate, and the seller notes a tear on the driver’s setback.
The rear seat and headliner remain in very good condition for their age.
The video above shows the 7-Litre Thunderbird V-8 running at idle and being revved. The car is said to start easily and drive smoothly, though there is a power steering leak that worsens if the car has not been driven for a while. Aging o-rings are suspected. The seller notes that it has been regularly maintained since new.
In addition to the short walk-around shown above, the seller has upload videos of the car starting from a stop as well as driving past.
