This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda underwent a multi-year build prior to the current owner’s 2024 acquisition that involved outfitting the car with a supercharged 6.2-liter SRT Hellcat V8 that is backed by a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. Additional work included a repaint in Plum Crazy and the installation of AlterKtion suspension components, Boze 18″ wheels, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, and a vented AAR-style hood. The cockpit houses TMI Products seating trimmed in black along with Vintage Air climate control, a Pioneer touchscreen head unit, AutoMeter instrumentation, and a pistol grip shifter housed in a retrofitted Challenger-style center console. This modified Barracuda is now offered by the seller on the owner’s behalf with a binder containing information related to the build and a clean Nebraska title in the owner’s name.
The seller notes that the 2016 shade of Plum Crazy was used during the refurbishment, and details include white Hemi quarter panel graphics, a vented AAR-style hood, chrome bumpers, Dapper Lighting headlights, a decklid spoiler, and tinted windows.
Suspension includes Reilly Motorsports AlterKtion front and rear setups with coilovers, and the subframe connectors have been welded. The car rides on Boze 18″ multi-spoke wheels mounted with Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires. Black Wilwood calipers are fitted over slotted rotors at all four corners.
TMI Products front bucket seats are trimmed in black with microsuede inserts. The center console was sourced from a 2015 Dodge Challenger and houses a pistol grip shifter as well as a Pioneer touchscreen head unit. Vintage Air climate control is also fitted.
The three-spoke steering wheel wears a Hellcat-logo center cap and is mounted on an Ididit tilting column. AutoMeter American Muscle instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary readouts. The digital odometer shows 1,300 miles, a handful of which have been added under current ownership.
The 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 was installed during the build and features purple coil covers. Long-tube headers feed a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe. The results of a 2022 dynamometer test are presented in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission.
