(Japanese: 輝けテラスタル!リコVSロイ!! Shine, Terastal! Liko VS Roy!!) is the 67th episode of Pokémon Horizons: The Series, and the 1,299th episode of the Pokémon animated series. It first aired in Japan on September 27, 2024.
Plot
The Course Students Battle Tournament continues with Dot facing Rai. After Terastallizing Quaxwell, Dot finishes the battle by defeating Rai's Darumaka with a boosted Liquidation. With this, the tournament now moves on to its final battle, Liko versus Roy, which everyone is excited about after Penny told everyone of their heroic efforts against the Explorers. Roy receives some words of encouragement from Nemona and Ryme, while Liko receives her own bit of encouragement from Ann and Katy, both Trainers and their partner Pokémon feeling fired up for their battle.
Once Liko and Roy have taken their places at the battlefield, Dendra initiates the match. The battle begins with a collision between Fuecoco's Flamethrower and Floragato's Magical Leaf, which cancel each other out. Next up, the two Pokémon collide with Flame Charge and Quick Attack, with Floragato overpowering Fuecoco and pushing him back. The same attacks are repeated, but thanks to Flame Charge, Fuecoco's speed has increased, allowing him to run laps around Floragato and hit her. Liko tries to stop Fuecoco by binding him with Floragato's vine, but Roy has Fuecoco push through and keep running, making Floragato spin uncontrollably. Eventually, though, Floragato manages to fling Fuecoco up into the air and then back down again. Seeing that Fuecoco is getting overpowered, Roy recalls him and sends out Kilowattrel, who has the advantage thanks to being able to fly. Liko has Floragato grab Kilowattrel's leg with her vine in an attempt to repeat her previous strategy, only for Kilowattrel to fly high into the air, dragging Floragato along, before diving back down. Floragato, though, manages to use Magical Leaf to cushion the landing, earning appreciative comments from the onlookers. She then uses the same move offensively against Kilowattrel, who tries to fly away from it. While Kilowattrel finds Magical Leaf following it, the erratic flying helps its wings build up an electrical charge, which Roy uses to his advantage by ordering a Spark, which powers through Magical Leaf. Floragato tries to counterattack with Scratch, but is overpowered and hit, leaving her crippled with paralysis.
Liko decides to make a switch of her own and sends out Hattrem, who manages to stop Kilowattrel's following Spark with Confusion. Roy counterattacks with Uproar, disrupting Hattrem's concentration. This allows Kilowattrel to fly up and dive in with another Spark, powering through another Confusion and dealing a hit. Roy orders another Spark, which Hattrem is too tired to dodge, so she instead glances at Liko and makes Floragato's Poké Ball glow a moment before she's struck down. When Liko sends Floragato back out, her paralysis is revealed to have been cured thanks to Hattrem's Ability, Healer. Kilowattrel dives in for another Spark, and Liko almost orders Floragato to grab Kilowattrel, before remembering what happened earlier and cancelling the order. Floragato did already start the move, though, and her aimlessly waving vine distracts Kilowattrel enough to give Liko an opening, allowing Floragato to defeat the Frigatebird Pokémon with Scratch. While Liko realizes this unintended strategy could be turned into a new move, Roy sends Fuecoco back out to begin the final round of the battle, which both sides are determined to win.
Roy has Fuecoco use Flamethrower, but before it can go off, Floragato repeats her previous strategy and startles the Fire Croc Pokémon with her vine before attacking him, successfully pulling off a new move; Sucker Punch. Roy asks Liko if she remembers their first battle, which leads to the two reminiscing of their journey together while their Pokémon continue exchanging attacks; how they've battled together, trained together, fought the Explorers together, and intend reach even further together. Roy and Fuecoco start expressing their determination to keep growing stronger by singing their song, with Ryme and the other students joining in as well. In the middle of the song, Fuecoco suddenly starts glowing and evolves into Crocalor, much to his Trainer's excitement. Both sides are eager to witness the newly evolved Pokémon in action and throw their Tera Orbs to Terastallize their partners. A clash between a boosted Flamethrower and Magical Leaf follows. While Crocalor's attack powers through, Floragato dodges it and goes in for a Quick Attack, which Crocalor meets with a boosted Flame Charge. The attacks clash in a big explosion. After a few tense moments, Floragato falls down from the cloud of smoke and faints, with Dendra declaring Roy the winner. Roy celebrates his victory with his newly evolved partner and shakes hands with Liko as Clavell concludes the tournament.
At dusk, Ann informs Liko that she'll be heading back to Indigo Academy, and both of them promise to battle each other again. Roy, meanwhile, receives congratulations from Nemona, Ryme, Hassel, and Brassius, and promises to keep growing stronger, while Dot receives a simple nod of approval from Larry and a phonecall from Iono, which she proceeds to mostly ignore in order to talk with Poppy, much to Iono's exasperation. In the academy's lobby, Liko has a brief talk with Geeta and Rika, and is encouraged to keep going further by Grusha and Katy, while Penny approaches Dot, addressing her as Nidothing and thanking her for her help. Leaving the academy, Liko and her friends, now fully wielding Terastallization, head out for a new adventure. Meanwhile, while Sidian and Coral sit together to eat a rice ball and a sandwich, respectively, Spinel studies the stolen Terapagos data at the Explorers base. Chalce enters the room to inform him that Hamber had been curious about the information he's dealing with, though she didn't tell him anything, nor does she intend to, which Spinel is pleased to hear.
