Victor's Cooking Class! (Japanese: マサルのお料理教室！ Masaru's Cooking Class!) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Victor (Palentine's 2024) & Greedent and Candice (Palentine's 2024) & Darmanitan.
The "Victor Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Victor (Palentine's 2024) & Greedent from the beginning of the event to February 27, 2024, and the "Candice Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Candice (Palentine's 2024) & Darmanitan from February 11 to 27, 2024.
During this event, players could earn Sweet Tickets A and Sweet Tickets A+ from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra tickets were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Victor (Palentine's 2024) & Greedent or Candice (Palentine's 2024) & Darmanitan to obtain +0.6× bonus tickets; Mallow (Palentine's 2023) & Appletun, Elesa (Palentine's 2023) & Togetic, Marnie (Palentine's 2022) & Mawile, Bea (Palentine's 2022) & Vanilluxe, Serena (Palentine's 2021) & Whimsicott, or Dawn (Palentine's 2021) & Alcremie to obtain +0.4× bonus tickets; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Galar or Sinnoh theme skills to earn +0.2× bonus tickets.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
In addition, completing the final story area of the event would earn players a medal and allow them to exchange for a special piece of artwork for the Trainer Lodge.
Plot
As Palentine's Day approaches, Candice, Caitlin, Koga, and Gordie come to Victor and ask for cooking advice so they can show gratitude to the special people in their lives. This leads Victor to give everyone a cooking lesson. In a large kitchen, Victor has each of his cooking students set up in front of a stove. He asks them questions about who they would like to show gratitude to, and helps them choose a dish to make based on that information. For Koga's gift to Janine, Victor suggests he makes a box lunch, and for Caitlin's gift to Darach, Victor suggests making some complex sweets. When Gordie explains he wants to give something to his fans, Victor suggests making a bunch of easy-to-make sweets. Standing next to a Galarian Darmanitan, Candice tells Victor that she'd like to cook up a feast for Maylene, who has always helped her with her training. Gordie and Victor begin to ask about the Darmanitan, but are interrupted by Melony entering the room.
When Melony walks over to check in on Darmanitan, Candice reveals that the former had given her the Pokémon as an Egg. Melony mentions that she wanted to pass down her techniques to another Trainer who specializes in Ice-type Pokémon, teasing Gordie for only focusing on Rock types. She eventually leaves to allow the others to cook. Later, as Victor's students begin to finish cooking their food, he stops to review each of their dishes. Victor offers some advice to Koga and Caitlin, then helps out Gordie, who reveals he wants to bake a few cookies that stand out among the rest he is making. Victor then stops by Candice, but is shocked to see that she has cooked an exuberant amount of food.
Victor encourages Candice to prioritize Maylene's feelings over sheer abundance while cooking. Candice decides to try to learn more about Maylene's food preferences, but worries about all of the dishes she cooked going to waste. Telling Candice not to worry, Victor sends out his Greedent, which proceeds to devour everything in front of it. After Victor advises Candice to change from her cooking clothes into her everyday clothes, she sets off to meet Maylene.
While Maylene is training at the mountain, she is surprised to see Candice come over to bring her a snack. Candice tries to casually ask Maylene if she has a favorite food, but she simply says she likes anything made by Candice because it creates a memory for her. Candice lingers on the idea of memories. Later, Candice arrives in town to ask a bunch of Trainers if they can train with Maylene at a specific spot on Palentine's Day.
The holiday soon arrives, and Koga and Caitlin give their gifts to Janine and Darach respectively. Both recipients are grateful, and Darach is so touched that he is at a loss for words. Nearby, Gordie's fans are pleased with his gifts, but they are shocked to see him suddenly turn away from them and rush off in another direction. As Melony walks through the plaza, Gordie runs up to her and gives her some specially made cookies, saying it is because she was his first fan. Meanwhile, as Maylene and a few others are training with each other at the glacier, Candice and Victor show up with a large bowl of stew. Maylene recognizes the stew as something Candice had made her before when she was training on a cold day. She is overjoyed, and gladly begins to eat. As everyone enjoys the stew, Maylene laments already finishing her portion. Candice happily serves her more, and Victor enthuses about the way cooking brings happiness to everyone.
