Campground amenities

Thousand Trails Orlando has 845 RV sites, including a mix of tent sites, 30-amp full hook-up, and 50-amp full hook-up sites. They also offer cabins if you are meeting up with friends or family that donโ€™t have an RV.

There are back-in sites as well as pull thru sites and they have recently opened a brand new section where all sites are all back-in, full hook-up sites with concrete pads and picnic tables. Thousand Trails Orlando boasts many activities within the park; they have horseshoes, pickleball, basketball, shuffleboard, mini golf, outdoor duckpin bowling, huge outdoor checker/chess boards, two swimming pools, and a hot tub.

Also within the park is Lake Hancock, a 60-acre spring-fed lake where you can kayak, fish from the pier, or sit along the shore but watch for wildlife. They have all sorts of group activities planned and a list of these activities is given to you upon check-in. They also have a large recreational center which houses a small camp store, post office, and lounge area.

Things to do near Thousand Trails Orlando Campground

While there is plenty to do at the campground, there are lots of fun things to do in the Orlando area. Of course there are the obvious choices, places like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World, which are all within a 35-minute drive from the park. But there are also some other fun places to check out.

First is Showcase of Citrus, just 4 miles away where you can take a tour of the 2,500-acre citrus and cattle ranch estate in the worldโ€™s largest 4ร—4, visit and feed the farm animals, shop in the store full of locally made food and drinks, pick your own fruit or just grab some that has already been picked for you, fish from the pier, or grab a bite to eat from one of the food trucks, but donโ€™t forget to pick up a frozen treat before leaving!

Disney In Orlando

If youโ€™re looking for something fun yet inexpensive to do with the kids then you might check out Disney Springs, this is an outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment area at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, which is near Orlando. There is no cost to go and parking is free too!

There are many stores with everything from bath and body supplies, to jewelry, to lots of Disney themed stores, including a Lego store with amazing displays outside. And donโ€™t forget the many restaurantsโ€”they even have a Rainforest Cafรฉ, which is super fun for kids of all ages!

Another fun place that Jimmy and Lisa visited while at Thousand Trails Orlando was ICON Park in Orlando. ICON Park is home to the Orlando StarFlyer, The Wheel at ICON Park, Madame Tussauds Orlando, SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium, and many stores and restaurants. It is a fun place to check out, especially in the evening when all the attractions are lighting up the sky!

Restaurants near Thousand Trails Orlando Campground

Although there isnโ€™t a restaurant at the campground, there are many local restaurants nearby. Some of their favorites were Hurricane Grill & Wings (Wednesday was all you can eat wing night!!), Giordanoโ€™s (Chicago style deep dish pizza), and donโ€™t forget dessert. There are various Twistee Treat locations serving over 20 flavors of soft serve on a cone, in a dish, as a milkshake or in a sundae! Of course there were plenty of other options but these are the ones they checked out. All of these places have gluten-free options!
