Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angie Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angie, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
When it comes to the idea of Remove the T, I definitely can’t take credit. In 2015 I found myself at a low place in life and was feeling defeated. I was sitting in my living room and like a flood the memories of my childhood came rushing in. All my life I have been told I can’t or I won’t and for a very long time I believed it. At that moment in my living room as I was reminded that I can’t, the Lord reminded me that You CAN.(period)
From then on, I have found comfort in those words and as I continue to journey through life I realize others need that reminder as well.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Angie Brown, owner of Remove The T Global LLC. I am a Certified Life Coach, Author, Notary and 3x Cancer Survivor. RTT (Remove The T) was birthed from a personal reminder to myself that You CAN.(period). I knew that if I had moments where I felt defeated and thought I can’t, then others may be feeling the same way. I’ve worked in customer service for over 20 years in various fields from waitressing, bartending to answering 911 calls for the local sheriff’s office, so I have a passion for helping people.
RTT exist to help change negative narratives into positives ones. By removing the t from a negative word like can’t, we are able to form a positive word – can. Our slogan, You CAN.(period) is a message we want to spread globally reminding others that they don’t have to remain a prisoner to the negative words spoken to them. Our words have power, so we have the power to use our words to empower and uplift rather than tear down or devalue.
We currently have our signature T-shirts that are visual reminders not only to the ones wearing them, but to the one that reads it that You CAN.(period) We all have moments when we could use an encouraging word or empowerment and that is why RTT exist. We want to be that constant reminder that pushes you to keep going.
We are constantly striving to provide products and services that help shift negatives into positives and will be adding our coaching services soon. Remove the T Coaching will specialize in transformational, empowerment and journey coaching. My personal adversities has equipped me to be able to help others get from where they are to where they want to be.
I am most proud that I have been given the opportunity to turn my trials and tribulations into testimonies to help those who face similar challenges. And through RTT I am afforded the opportunity to foster positive change in such a negative world.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2018 after visiting the ER for leg and side pains. The cancer was so aggressive that they started Chemotherapy a couple days later and I remained in the hospital for 28 days. I would undergo chemo each month after then which resulted in at least 14 days in the hospital. On March 1, 2019, I had a bone marrow transplant in Gainesville, Fl which is about an hour and 30 minutes from where I reside in Jacksonville. After my transplant, once released from the hospital I had to stay within an hour of the hospital so I ended up staying with my Bonus mom less than 45 minutes away. This was a trying time because I was a single mother of a then 10 year old daughter. I would eventually get well enough to go home and back to work but after being back to work for 2 weeks my cancer relapsed after only 9 months. I found myself off work again and having to go through treatments. In June of 2020, I was cleared to go back to work and things were good. In September 2021, I decided it was time to start my business because I was a part of a book project that was about to be released and I was in school to become a Life Coach. I was so sick at my graduation in December 2021 and ended up in the hospital. It was determined that my cancer had relapsed again but this time to my brain. Only 3 months after starting my business I was forced to put the business on hold to focus on my health. Dealing with Cancer for a 3rd time was extremely difficult. I had to have a port put in my head so they could administer more chemotherapy. After these treatments, I would exhibit stroke like symptoms and could barely walk or talk. Shortly after getting out the hospital, I developed covid-19 and ended up back in the hospital. I have spent 2022 trying to recover. In July of 2022, I underwent another transplant and I am still recovering from it. Through it all, I have been committed to beating these obstacles and remain resilient. I have a daughter that needs me and I have people to help through my business, Remove The T.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
First and far most, the bible! It is the foundation and provides a guide to how we should live and treat others.
Next I would have to say The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book is pretty much a code of conduct to model. The four agreements that he touches on are Be Impeccable with your word, Don’t take anything personally, Don’t make assumptions and Always do your best. These agreements are not just applicable in my personal life but business as well.
