LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Las Cruces Public Schools leaders are working to fill a vacancy within their board.
An LCPS board member resigned in March.
The school board will interview candidates on Wednesday in front of the community in hopes to find someone to fill that vacancy.
The president of the board Teresa Tenorio told CBS4 they would interview five different candidates on Monday.
"It’ll be completely open, all of it from the very beginning," said Tenorio "Every candidate will be asked four questions one from each board member."

She said the basic requirements candidates had to meet were to be at least 18 years of age, be registered to vote, and live in the district they were applying for.
In this case, it was district one.
While there would be no public comment, Tenorio said the members of the community would be welcome to attend to watch the interviews take place.
"It’ll be really nice to have a fifth person fulfilling that district one vacancy. It’s always nice to have a full five board, five-member board, to do our business," said Tenorio
The meeting was set to start at 1 p.m. on Monday at the LCPS administration complex where they will be appointing a new school board member.
Tenorio told CBS4 she strongly encouraged the community to attend.
