GUILDERLAND, N.Y (WRGB) — Guilderland Public Library has waived late fees since March 2020, when the COVID pandemic began.
Now, that policy is becoming more permanent. There will no longer be fines for overdue books.

Altamont Free Library is also eliminating their overdue fines, joining the majority of UHLS libraries and a growing contingent across the nation.
Guilderland Library said" our collective goal is to make our resources as freely available as possible, removing barriers when we can. We strive to make it easy for you to get a library card and download digital materials and audiobooks. AUTO RENEWALS are another exciting new development we now offer throughout the UHLS to make it even easier for you! One caveat: once your auto renewals are maxed out, you'll still be charged for the replacement cost of the item. However, if you return it, even if it’s late, all is forgiven - no penalty.
The reason for doing this is to have more customers and book lovers come back to the library.
