The Board oversees for general maintenance of the Common Areas and Lake and will authorize projects that improve and enhance the living experience in the subdivision. Lot owners have one vote per lot at all meetings of the Association.

The History of Cedar Lake

In 1975, Fritz Daugherty platted the area which would be know as Cedar Lake, which included single family lots, a nineteen-acre lake and common areas for recreation and lake identification. Later in that decade, a number of these lots in the northern section of the subdivision were replated for duplexes and multifamily dwellings. A total of 286 individual lots were created. Upon the sale of the first lot, the developer created the Cedar Lake Home Owners Association for the purpose of managing the Development as prescribed in the Covenants and By-Laws of the Association.

The initial development of the area began on the north side of the lake by Mr. Daugherty.  Beginning in 1985, the south side of the lake began to develop through the efforts of Elvin Sapp and John Gonnerman.

In 1987, the lake level was lowered in order to construct a spillway at the west end of the dam to better handle runoff from heavy rains, keeping the dam safe from erosion or overflow due to high water. During this time, natural silting from runoff began to be noticed and development of the Corporate Lake area further contributed to the silting due to the lack of certain building codes that could have reduced runoff from properties being developed in the Corporate Lake area.

In 2005, the first dredging of the lake was completed. Further in 2025, silt removal is under ongoing evaluation.

The Cedar Lake dam is registered with the State of Missouri, Department of Natural Resources, and has an operating permit issued by the Department.  The Dam is inspected biannually to assure compliance with Department guidelines. In 2018, from a Department of Natural Resources recommendation, rip rap was installed to reduce erosion at the upstream face of the dam.
