On Friday night, Art + Science Salon will host "Art & Soul," a runway show with a heart-tugging cause. Colorist Erica Netter's newborn son was born with Cystic Fibrosis, so the whole Art + Science family is committed to raising funds and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
They'll do that at their event later this week—tickets, $85 to $160, are available here—they'll also offer a flat-out fun event with a "fashion-meets-music entertainment vibe," says a salon rep. Along with performances from bands Purple Apple and Wild Belle, the evening includes a fashion show styled by the salon's co-founder and chief creative officer Paul Wilson (pictured) and his team.
Below, get a little sneak peek at what the trends are—and a sense of how "alien couture" will spring to life on the runway.
So, the basics: the show will be divided into four hairdressing segments, with some 35 models. The male models were street cast, while the ladies were plucked from professional agencies. There will be one male segment, dubbed "barbering revival," and three ladies' segments with the themes "punk couture," "colour," and "alien couture."
"With the barbershop segment, we intend to display the craft of barbering and grooming, in all its precision and aggression," Wilson says. "Beards will be the accessory, as they're a quintessential part of the movement." The "colour" segment will be based on what the stylists see ahead for spring, including "beautiful richness in monochromatic statements."
When it comes to the punk theme, "we always have, and always will, find inspiration in the punk culture," Wilson says. "When it circulates back into the forefront of fashion and culture, we pretty much lose our minds." As for the last, otherworldly segment? Expect asymmetrical silhouettes, braids, and lots of avant-garde coolness in the "alien couture" bit.
Bonus: all the clothes will be from local boutiques and designers. And, there will be styling lounges on site for guests to get comp touchups.
