Prior to the rivalry game against Miami, there are several players dealing with injuries on both teams. Make sure to stay up to date with the latest injury report including Malik Vann (out), who is expected to miss the rest of the year with an upper body injury.

During the home opener against Kennesaw State, Vann suffered a pectoral injury and will be out indefinitely after having surgery this week. Luke Fickell discussed Vann’s surgery on his radio show.

"“He had surgery today on his pec. I don’t know exactly how long but it doesn’t look great. Which is really tough. A fifth-year senior that had a really good offseason and poured a lot of things into it. I don’t know if we’ll get him back but I never rule those things completely out.”"

The Bearcats will need Eric Phillips, Noah Potter and Justin Wodtly to step up and replace Vann’s intensity. Another injured defensive tackle is Dominique Perry (questionable), who hasn’t played yet this season.

In the win over Kennesaw State, wide receiver Will Pauling (out) went down with an MCL injury and is expected miss multiple weeks. Pauling had three catches for 41 yards before getting hurt a week ago.

A few offensive lineman that suffered injuries in the preseason are All-AAC center Jake Renfro (out) and guard Landon Fickell (questionable). Renfro will miss the entire season with a knee injury, while the severity of Fickell’s shoulder remains unclear.

With such a deep roster, the Bearcats probably don’t need to rush senior running back Ryan Montgomery (questionable) back from a rib injury but it sounds like he will return soon with Saturday a possibility.

The RedHawks are dealing with several key injuries including All-MAC junior quarterback Brett Gabbert (out) and sophomore offensive tackle Sam Vaughan (out)Aveon Smith is set to start in place of Gabbert for a second game in a row after debuting last week.
