CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Two Montgomery County Jail inmates have died in the last month, one of them from suicide.
“We did have an attempted suicide within our jail by an inmate on Sept. 9,” Montgomery County Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Heise said in a statement.
The inmate was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and placed on life support, Heise said. The inmate was put on life support and then died on Sept. 12.
“This is still an open, active investigation, and at this time no other details can be released,” Heise said.
The inmate’s name, age and gender were not released.
In the second incident, the inmate was found in her cell.
Alice Fay Douglas, 55, was found unresponsive on Sept. 17 just after midnight, Heise said.
She was transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville, where she was pronounced dead.
“The preliminary cause of death appears to be natural causes, and an autopsy will be performed,” Heise said. “This is still an open, active investigation, and no other details can be released at this time.”
