Update, 7:40 p.m.: It appears to have been a single-vehicle wreck, with the vehicle pulling a trailer. The vehicle is being removed from the scene, and the driver was transported by helicopter.
Eastbound traffic is still backed up to about mile marker 5.
Update, 5:55 p.m.: Clarksville Police are on the scene of the wreck, which is under the overpass. A vehicle flipped on the interstate, and emergency crews are working to extricate the occupants of the vehicle, according to police spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien.
Eastbound traffic is being diverted onto the Exit 8 off-ramp and then is being allowed to cross Rossview Road to get back onto I-24 eastbound.
Traffic is backed up past Exit 8 and Exit 4 to about mile marker 3. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route until the roadway can be cleared.
Update, 5:30 p.m.: Eastbound traffic is now backed up to Exit 4.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A wreck near Exit 8 has traffic backed up on Interstate 24.
At about 5:30 p.m., the wreck in the eastbound lanes had eastbound traffic backed up to mile marker 5. Traffic was being diverted off the interstate.
