Established in 2005, Cold Creek Ranch originated to create whitetail deer stockers, breeders, and exotic animals with superior genetics that are the best in Texas. Bruce Smith founded the ranch with a goal of creating a ranching institution that is abundant with superior animals and wildlife in an arena that truly is an outdoor escape with plentiful harvests and picturesque wildlife and nature.

This whitetail deer ranch convenient to Houston consists of a team of professionals that are fully trained in every aspect concerning the animals; staff is trained in veterinary work and performs vaccinations, chemical immobilizations, and darting. Every task related to taking care of the whitetail deer and exotic animals is performed at the ranch.

Cold Creek Ranch adheres to quality ranch management in association with State Biologists and ranch guidelines. Each member of the Cold Creek Ranch team has an extensive background in ranching and animals. The staff cares for each animal as if they were the only animal on the ranch; around-the-clock care is given to the animals and the 400+ acre property.

Bruce SmithOwner

Bruce Smith founded Cold Creek Ranch with a vision of creating a beautiful ranching facility that breeds a wide range of trophy whitetail deer and exotic animals with high quality genetics. An international hunter, Bruce is passionate about all things outdoors and has committed time and focus on personally seeing and researching different breeds of animals. A profuse amount of time devoted to research and global hunting adventures has facilitated Bruce to master the art of breeding extraordinary trophy animals. This dedicated ranch owner loves hunting, fishing, and everything that involves wildlife and nature. Bruce’s vision of having a ranch abundant with trophy animals and wildlife has now manifested — Cold Creek Ranch animals are not only superior, they are some of the best in Texas.

David HumesRanch Manager

Growing up alongside the Hudson River in Upstate New York surrounded by the Catskill Mountains, David always has had an appreciation and passion for the outdoors and the wildlife it sustained. By attending Oswego State University, David was able to turn that passion for animals and outdoors into a career by graduating with a B.S. in Zoology in May 2012. Since graduating, David had worked abroad in South Africa and managed whitetail deer and exotic wildlife ranches in both Texas and Wisconsin. David has been with Cold Creek Ranch since June of 2016. David’s passion for animal husbandry, wildlife management, genetics and breeding is taking CCR to the next level.

Wildlife Community Affiliations

Cold Creek Ranch is a strong member of the wildlife community. Cold Creek Ranch trained professionals are members of the Texas Deer Association (TDA). Cold Creek Ranch is also involved with Buck Trader and various selling avenues. We procure several products from Nutrena. The whitetail deer ranch staff members are philanthropists and help out with many community events.
