Hi Dominic. I saw that the DPLA bot that uploaded all the images in the :Category:Media contributed by University of Colorado Boulder Libraries category was operated by you. Almost all of the images in that category are of low resolution which a much higher resolution can be found at the https://cudl.colorado.edu/luna links to the files, where they can be exported as extra large images. For example, this image has a much higher resolution version in its source link here. Since there are too many images in that category to be replaced manually, I was wondering if you could use the DPLA bot or another bot to update all the images in that category to be the highest resolution images from their source links? Thank you. Colohisto () 04:25, 6 February 2024 (UTC) |

:Colohisto I did a little research on this. We upload images using the w:IIIF manifest provided by the institution. So we are sourcing our images from the same place as what you linked. But in this case, even though the full resolution image is 5255x4172, the manifest they are providing to us caps the image at a 1024px height and width in the link. We can still access the full image, but it might require some convoluted code changes to the bot to recognize if the IIIF image URL is specifying something below max resolution and override that parameter. I am not sure how soon we would be able to get to that. For now, if you have individual larger images you know you are using, I would encourage you to simply overwrite what the bot has uploaded—despite the warning, it would make sense in this type of situation. Since it appears you are back focused on Commons, could you please weigh in at User talk:Jmabel#Some more-or-less duplicates? Basically, your bot uploaded a fair number of duplicate images with non-duplicate data, and it is not clear how best to proceed. - Jmabel !
