You make mention of "own work" but none of the images claim "own work". They all list the OOI program. If you read http://oceanobservatories.org/about/media-relations/ you'll see the below notice:
Keep - Offnfopt(talk) 18:54, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- The "own work" is in the license. The website given as a source of File:Southern Hydrate Ridge 2013-06-06-web.jpg states "© 2018 Ocean Observatories Initiative. All Rights Reserved. Funding for the Ocean Observatories Initiative is provided by the National Science Foundation through a Cooperative Agreement with the Consortium for Ocean Leadership. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation." And so on. The "own work" was claimed by the license chosen. Ellin Beltz (talk) 18:18, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- Yes and on that same site you will find the excerpt I posted above which includes "all images on our website taken by individuals within the OOI program are considered to be in the public domain, i.e. free for use".
- The uploader didn't select the {{PD-USGov-NSF}} PD license that is correct, though they may not have known where that license is located so they opted to select a CC license, which in no way claims "own work". It also is not a valid reason to delete the image. Both licenses are compatible with commons and opting to delete PD image just because a CC license was in place of a PD license is not proper. - Offnfopt(talk) 18:30, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
BTW, none of these images that I looked at appear on the pages given as sources. Therefore I can't make any assumptions about if they are from OOI or not because the actual images (with sources as stated on the OOI page you linked) do not appear visibly to be checked. That the images cannot be found at the source given, that they have a self license here, both are very valid reasons for deletion. I suggest you find these actual images in use on that OOI website, and provide sources rather than argue about license which may or may not apply. The images have to be found first. - The images were uploaded in 2014, surely you don't expect a website to stay the same for a duration of 3 years. - Offnfopt(talk) 19:24, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
