  • English: Bas-relief is kind of sculpture in which the carved figures are raised a few inches from a flat background to give a three-dimensional effect. Relief sculpture is meant to be seen from one specific angle, as opposed to in the round sculpture. It derives from a French term meaning "low-raised work".
