Deleting pages pre-upoad

Hi

You deleted some of my file pages because there was no media. Those pages were created in advance of a upload by Flickr Upload Bot. Could you undelete these? Thanks Samuell (talk) 20:39, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

File:Eric-koch-ffm-006a.jpg

Please undelete File:Eric-koch-ffm-006a.jpg - only the first version should be deleted as I clearly wrote. Thanks. The second - cropped version is no copyvio.

Danke, passiert eben manchmal.

Chainmail patterns

Can you tell me why you deleted this category, many if the images in the chainmail category are just images of patterns and nothing more. samuraiantiqueworld.com (talk) 00:47, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

No permissions? Seriously? I had the permission noted. I got rid of the ugly permission, but since you INSIST on making me add it, I added it back.

There will be no "emails" that is just silly. The permission was given from the beginning, and deleting a picture because an "email wasn't sent" is silly as well.

Frankly, I am appalled by the notion that there "wasn't permission." -Feildmaster (talk) 07:33, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

seriously. Excuse me, but in order to maintain our images, we need that E-Mail send to the OTRS. Excuse me for the inconvenience. abf «Cabale!» 07:37, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
THE PERMISSION WAS GIVEN FROM THE BEGINNING. Right here: Author Permission. There is no need for a stinking email. If it's about {{free screenshot|license={{GPL}}}}, if I had known it would cause this much of a hubaloo on a friggin wiki, I would have never removed it. If I do send an email, it will be about your incompetent abilities to SEE THE PERMISSIONS -Feildmaster (talk) 07:43, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Please refer to COM:L. "In wiki" does not automatically mean GPL. abf «Cabale!» 07:51, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
All I wanted to do was upload a transparent image. The permissions are valid, and you needing to even HAVE that ugly template in a picture is ridiculous. It's fine, you give me this much trouble for a transparent image, I'll go back to the old one that never gave me any problems... Delete the .png, don't want it. You got what you wanted. It's not worth arguing about (since i'm right in the first place) -Feildmaster (talk) 07:57, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
C'mon, that was not what I wanted. Of course, I appreciate your work and also any "transparent" images. I just saw the jpeg, there is the same problem. It would be really kind if you could solve this problem by getting a valid GPL-Permission (best via Mail, if it is clearly stated on the webpage, that's also okay), but it has to include a valid statement about the GPL. Please see also Commons:Email templates. Kind regards, abf «Cabale!» 08:10, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Uggh. This is getting rediculous. The "in-wiki" refers to 1100AD Wiki. We are free to use ANY image for use on the wikipedia page. Now I have to find "independent sources" for the wiki page. Great. How does anything end up getting on the wiki? Frigging ridiculous rules. But fine. Since my hard work is at risk of being deleted, I'll work EVEN HARDER to keep my work from disappearing. -Feildmaster (talk) 08:24, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your hard work and again - excuse me for any inconvenience. abf «Cabale!» 08:28, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I thought I had 7 days before the images were deleted? (Not that it is hard to upload them again, after getting the "Permission" the way YOU GUYS want it.) -Feildmaster (talk) 08:57, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I put him a note. abf «Cabale!» 09:05, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Get the permission and then I'll restore. —Dark talk 09:18, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I see now that I can upload directly to en.wikipedia, using non-free notices (As per how other games have done it). I originally added them to commons because I could not do this, so now that i can, I will do it as others have. Now I just need to get the page "wiki approved," and I am waiting to see if I can use the references... Thank you for your help though. (Feel free to blank this discussion, or archive, which ever) -Feildmaster (talk) 21:32, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

"Stereo Love" cover

The file I'd uploaded was the REAL cover for the song "Stereo Love". If you don't believe me, search it on iTunes.

And this is a REAL free content project, not a project for copyrighted/unfree album covers and not a project for random files that you grabbed from the internet, no matter they are real or not not. --Martin H. (talk) 14:34, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Sorry for the Joueur du Grenier Logo, but I was editing it to put the right copyrights and all. You were damn fast LOL. I still don't get how the copyright and all is working on wikipedia, after having read all the pages and looking how the others are doing. I mean, there are logo copyrighted everywhere on wikipedia, but they were not put by the guys who made them. So, even if I put the Logo copyright and I add it's not my work etc etc, I still can't upload them? Damn it's so messy :s Sorry for all the questions, I hope one day I will get it (and English is not my first language, so it doesn't help... LOL) --162eRI (talk) 08:40, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi! You can find more information if you browse COM:L (you can even pick your language there). For non free-content on wikipedia, please also refer to w:WP:FAIRUSE. Is there anything else I could do for you? Kind regards, abf «Cabale!» 08:42, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your quick answer. In the second link, I went to the Logo section Wikipedia:Logos, which is what interested me. So, I can upload them if I put the right copyright and follow all the listed steps. For exemple, if I take the AVGN logo File:Avgn_logo.png, it was uploaded by a random guy like me, but it was done correctly, so the logo could stay because of encyclopedic purposes. Thank you for the links, I will upload the Logo again and this time I hope correctly. Thanks ;) --162eRI (talk) 08:50, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Negative! You can't upload unfree logos here on commons, but if you do it correctly, you may do so e.g. on enwiki using fair use. abf «Cabale!» 08:52, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

JossStoneinToronto.jpg

The file I've uploaded there's no really a copyright. How can I prove that? It's because I got confused when reading the explanation about it. My situation: a man from her record label asked me to upload this file and he said there's no a copyright really and this file is from her record label http://www.stoned-records.com/images/artists/joss-stone/joss-stone-01-608x360.jpg How can I prove that? Thanks. --Jamariano (talk) 10:21, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Please send a written permission to the OTRS. abf «Cabale!» 10:51, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll ask the man from record label to do that.--Jamariano (talk) 11:23, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Geos C64.jpg

Was ist also der "Sinn" deines Handels?

Ja, tut man. --Martin H. (talk) 14:13, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Any chance it could be moved to enwiki? It was being used in an article. (I am not watching your talkpage; please respond on mine.) --Cybercobra (talk) 04:49, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Löschung

Bitte sei vorsichtig bei Löschungen. Du hast File:€2 commemorative coin Germany 2006.jpg wegen "no license since" gelöscht.

Entschuldigung, abf «Cabale!» 19:25, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Libra constellation map

Hello, please keep attention while deleting files. Please restore File:Libra constellation map.png. The license has to be the same of any other constellation maps similar to that and uploaded by the same user some years ago (see File:Lupus constellation map.png). After that, please restore all the links in all wikipedias removed by CommonsDelinker. Thank you. --Roberto Segnali all'Indiano 18:56, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Seems to be my error. I can't see, why I deleted this file now. Excuse me. abf «Cabale!» 19:29, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
No problem. :-) I have just restore the links in it.wiki. May we ask for a bot that will restore the links all around the wikis? Bye! --Roberto Segnali all'Indiano 19:34, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
I am busy with restoring the links at the moment, but I don't think, we'll need a bot. Kind regards, abf «Cabale!» 19:48, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

The "No-license-box" has been added by User:Agent001. That was the major error. Antonsusi (talk) 01:46, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Vandal Hearts Cover

Hi, i uploaded the cover of "Vandal Hearts" the video game (in the french wikipedia), and it was deleted. I'm new on wikipedia, and i saw nothing about video games covers in Commons:Image casebook, maybe i miss it. But i would like to know what we can do to put this image (there is a list to update, an e-mail to ask...) ? Because if i'm understanding, in france we can't use the covers but if we re-creat the logo or only cut the name on the cover, it's accepted ? Sorry again for my mistake, i'm trying to learn (hope this message will be good too), and if you speak french you'll can do it that will easilier for me to understand. Thank you --Novavixen 01:43, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

I guess, the links you are searching for are COM:FU, COM:FAN and Commons:Image casebook#Album covers. Kind regards, abf «Cabale!» 08:48, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Google logo & watermarks

Dear ABF, I'm a it.source sysop, and I currently upload into Commons djvu files coming from Internet Archive. Many of these djvu books begin with a Google information page and disclaimer; copyright issue is a very complex one, but I see that there's a general agreement about the content of {{PD-scan}}.

There are different opinions and different politics about removing or saving the Google disclaimer page in front of such PD scans of PD books. I usually don't remove them; I think it's better to save them, as a reward to Google contibution and to file source, coming, as I told you, usually from Internet Archive. Is there some new guideline about Google Books? can you link it please? In the meantime, I'm asking you to undelete File:Importante scoperta del famoso tarèno di Amalfi.djvu, related to current work into it.source, as you will see as soon as you'll recover it. If you like, I'll remove the pages with Google disclaimer, but it's perplexing for me. --Alex_brollo Talk|Contrib 17:39, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, I've restored the file for now. It would be kind, if you could discuss this on the Village pump as this is a topic of general interest. Kind regards, abf «Cabale!» 17:48, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I presume that the topic has been deeply discussed before; I'll browse a little into village pump archives (and into en.source scriptorium) to avoid repetitions and to find guinelines and suggestions about "the Google page". --Alex_brollo Talk|Contrib 18:00, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Here the link to an old talk I found searching for "Google logo" into village pump archives: Commons:Village_pump/Archive/2007/09#Google_Pdf_Scan. It doesn't cover exactly the issue of Google logo but it is useful as an introduction of the matter. Since then, thousand of Google book scans have been uploaded into Internet Archive, then into Commons, or directly from Google into Commons. I opened into it.source village pump a talk, to decide our guidelines about saving, or deleting, the "Google disclaimer" page, but it is reasonably sure that most states laws (USA in particular) consider free any scan (t.i. e "mechanical repruduction" with no human "artistic" contribution) of a free book. I'll tell you our politics as soon as we'll fine an agreement. Thanks again for yuor fast restoring on the file; you can come and see "works in progress" here. --Alex_brollo Talk|Contrib 12:45, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Photos

Hello.

How come my Ryanair and jet2 photos have been nominated for deletion. --MKY661 (talk) 18:18, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Please take a brief look at those pictures. Do you really think, those could possibly be of educational value? You can't really see anything in those images. 90% is sky, the rest some part of an airplane. Sorry, but that's not the kind of photos, that falls inside our scope. Kind regards, abf «Cabale!» 18:21, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi. These were actually taken from videos, but because i am so far away, it is so small. And when I was taking the picture of the Monarch at Malaga, it was a nightmare. I took about five shots and none of them were great. This one was probably the best.

For the Ryanair and Jet2, would you rather me re-upload them with then rotating on the runway?

--MKY661 (talk) 19:40, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Well:
It's not, that everyone has to upload his pictures. COM:PS clearly gives an overview about what Commons hosts, and
here, you can find what Commons does not host.
If you have usable (educational value) pictures of aircraft rotating the runway, please fell free to upload them, but please mind COM:PS and COM:L of course. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. Kind regards, abf «Cabale!» 19:46, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Not another one. Ill have nothing left by tonight if this keeps going! Check my main page, have majority of my photos there. If there is problems, tell me what is wrong with them (I think the night shot of the Bmibaby will be next)

The Mint airways Photo is on the Mint Airways Page on Wikipedia, and is the only picture of a mint airways on the whole of commons.

--MKY661 (talk) 19:57, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Negative. What about this? abf «Cabale!» 19:58, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Wow, never noticed this one before. Must have been added a few days ago. Let me just check the Reg. if its EC-LHL (i think thats it) then we have both aircraft that Mint Airways own on commons. If not, well, ill se what I can do.

Are My Monarch's OK? Sorry but the pictures i take are quite bad...

--MKY661 (talk) 20:04, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, I uploaded it around an hour ago, and yes, it's EC-LHL. abf «Cabale!» 20:10, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Great. I have just created the category for the other arcraft i took on Category:Mint Airways

Hey, do you have any photos of planes at Alicante Airport. There is some on there, but the airlines have either gone bust or don't fly there anymore. There are photos of planes on most of the spanish airports on Wikipedia, but I think Alicante is a bit left out.

I am also trying to get lots of Monarch on wikipedia. I hope to have the whole fleet by the end of the year. (I am also a regular Monarch flyer and I think you can guess which airports i fly to) I do have one that isn't on there, but its on my old computer which is currently down.

Are there any more of my photos that may be subject to deletion? --MKY661 (talk) 20:21, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

I have never been to Alicante, thus I do not have any pictures from there. I currently have got photos of 1768 different registrations of 267 Airlines. By the way, Monach is not among them. If you need any new registration or airline, fell free to ask. abf «Cabale!» 20:26, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

By the way, what airport was the Mint Airways taken at. --MKY661 (talk) 20:33, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Düsseldorf International. It was on a charter trip for TUIfly Germany. abf «Cabale!» 20:35, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Do you know a good way to take good photos at night time? im going to Gibraltar a week on friday but I think it will be night. (departs around 7:00) Last time there were loads of aircraft but they all turned out badly. I use a Canon PowerShot A490 camera. --MKY661 (talk) 20:43, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Night-shots always look best if you use a tripod, long exposure time and higher ISO-Speed. abf «Cabale!» 20:49, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
