IRT Substations
The description you added to the Category:IRT Substation 14 claims that the Category:IRT Substation 17 is the only one of the original substations that are still operational. What about Category:IRT Substation 18 in the South Bronx? ----DanTD (talk) 21:15, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- I took the description from the source cited (Gothamist) Is substation 18 online? Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:49, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- I'm having trouble finding anything online which says whether substation 18 is in use or not. The nearest I came is this, which only says it was in use as of 1978. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:01, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Well, they still have those high voltage signs and decals on the door. That doesn't convince me the place is dormant. ----DanTD (talk) 01:45, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
- Maybe this issue should be brought to the attention of Gothamist, ----DanTD (talk) 01:50, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi Beyond My Ken
I've done some moderate improvements (rotating a few degrees to get a horizontal line, some adjustments on colour and contrast) on your image. Hope it's okay for you. Regards --Alabasterstein (talk) 06:19, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- Looks better, thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:49, 30 March 2022 (UTC)
Alexandria
I noticed you took a lot of good photos in Alexandria. Did you happen to get one of this building? It wasn't on my list and I just happened to take a quick photo of it, but I was hoping for a more direct angle (or a closeup of the cupola with its mannequin). If not, no worries. I'll try to visit Old Town again at some point. APK (talk) 08:37, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
- No, sorry, I didn't get that far up Washington. I wish I had, it's an interesting building. Maybe next time. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:21, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Deleting redirects for File:Naked Pictures of Bea Arthur 0007.jpg and File:Naked Pictures of Bea Arthur 0008.jpg
Should you really be doing that? They're part of a series and you've destroyed all trace of the order in which they were taken which was sort of preserved in Category:Images from Wikis Take Manhattan by Naked Pictures of Bea Arthur. And while most of the WTM images are really poor quality in terms of subject isolation, fourteen years later, they're kind of an historic record of the early days of Wikicommons. If you really feel the need to move them, please do not delete the redirects. -- DanielPenfield (talk) 13:25, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

102 Prince Street and 4 Bond Street and 113 E 38th Street
Hallo Ken, I am trying to get a better shot of 102 Prince Street and 4 Bond Street and 113 East 38th Street for the respective articles "Ghost" and "First Wives Club" and "Sliver". Whenever you have a chance do you think you could please get some more detailed photos of those buildings, especially in angle from screen shots from the films but from a distance, so it becomes better recognisable? These are the views ghost136.jpg (565×318) (onthesetofnewyork.com) and thefirstwivesclub26.jpg (565×312) (onthesetofnewyork.com). For Morgan Court on 113 E 38th Street a view as can be seen in the movie poster would be great. Thank you for your help. Gryffindor (talk) 12:58, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Butt-in from a talkpage watcher. I sometimes visit these parts of town, but the links are not working for me nor have I seen any of the views you're asking for. It might help if you could indicate the desired POV using Template:Coord or other method. Jim.henderson (talk) 10:49, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- I'm on vacation right now. I'll be back in a week, but then plunge right into a patch of work, so I probably can't do anything for a bit -- but I'll try. Beyond My Ken (talk) 07:46, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

hard category redirects
Hi. I see that you have had a practice of hard category redirects on top of {{Category redirect}}. These double-ups do cause issues, and it is not a common practice, so it would be great if we could stop doing that. Though I would also like to understand why you believe it is necessary to be doing something additional to the accepted and common practice. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:33, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- Not having hard redirects also cause issues, which I have explained numerous times. If there is no hard redirect, putting the category name into the upload form directly (as opposed to using the "Categories" field), by typing in "[[Category:Category name]]" will not result in the redirected category appearing on the file, just Category name in italics (indicating a redirected category). If someone fixes this, as I have suggested numerous times, there would be no need for me to hard-code category redirects. Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:27, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
