English: Castleshane is a small village on the outskirts of Monaghan town in the north of County Monaghan in Ireland. Castleshane or Caisléan an tSiáin in Irish, translates as the castle (or fort) of the fairies and not the castle of Shane as most believe. The village is situated on the National Primary Route 2 from Dublin to Derry approximately 6 kilometres from Monaghan town and 17 kilometres from Castleblayney. It is also located approximately 3 kilometres away from the border with County Armagh and Northern Ireland.
