English: For the purposes of categorisation, the French Canadian category refers to the descendents of the French colonists who arrived in New France (Canada) in the 17th and 18th centuries. This includes many of the Québécois, Franco-Ontariens, etc. of today (but not the Acadians, whose culture and history evolved separately from the French Canadian culture of Quebec and elsewhere in Canada). The broader Category:Canadians of French descent includes French Canadians, Acadians, as well as those whose French (i.e. France) background or lineage is more recent.
Français : La catégorie Category:French Canadians (Canadiens français) fait référence aux habitants du Canada qui ont pour ancêtres les colons français qui s’étaient établis au Canada à l’époque de la Nouvelle-France. Cela comprend de nombreux Québécois, Franco-Ontariens, etc. (sauf les Acadiens, dont l’histoire diffère de celle des autres francophones).
