Tag reverted with the explanation of rv idiot, so moving to DR.

No source is given for the underpinning map, copyright not verifiable. (talk) 08:03, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I thought you were an idiot. You are apparently a vandal. It would be one thing if it was an oversight, but intentionally disrupting Commons and wasting our time should get you blocked. That's a Commons map, as any idiot should be able to tell. The source of the info is given. Kwamikagami (talk) 08:09, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The source of the map is not given. "That's a Commons map, as any idiot should be able to tell" is not a verifiable source, nor is "Commons" a creator and publisher of original maps.
The source of the "data" is a dead link.
Please take threats of blocks to COM:AN. This nomination is to discuss the file and copyright.
Thanks -- (talk) 08:11, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Idiots like you are why I upload to WP-en and tag all uploads as "keep local". Even when the original Commons map is linked, deletion-happy idiots tag them for copy-vio!
What you're saying is that we cannot use the blank maps on Commons to create other maps? If that's true, then all the images from WP-en need to be moved back to WP-en. Kwamikagami (talk) 08:48, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What is said is "No source is given for the underpinning map, copyright not verifiable." To fix this you need only provide the link to the appropriately licensed map. Rather than repeatedly calling me an idiot, you could have simply added the link to the image page and removed the tag, rather than forcing this deletion request.
If you want to try the 'keep local' approach, that's fine, but Wikipedia's fair use rules would not apply to this map and unverifiable images do get removed from there too, when they are noticed. -- (talk) 04:41, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know how many thousands of maps there are on Commons, to expect someone to ID which one this was clipped from a decade after it was made?
No, on WP they don't delete images just because some nutcase has got a stick up his ass. They expect some common sense. Kwamikagami (talk) 08:48, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • What an odd nomination. Was there any suspicion at all that this image could be violating somebody's copyright? Again, it's obviously derived from a map of the type you expect to see on Commons. I guess identifying the source is important, but how difficult is it to do that? The map shows a sum total of four labelled features. Just type in the search bar the name of the biggest one, and – lo and behold! – the image you need shows up at the very top of the search results. Kept: Original map has been provided. @Kwamikagami: your map was out of copyright compliance, since it didn't credit the author. Fæ can be... hard to work with, but the nomination was valid and wasn't vandalism. --Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 14:29, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kwamikagami: Your conduct here was completely out of line. @Magog the Ogre and : I can't believe the abuse you got Fæ. I don't know your work, but I want to encourage you to keep it up. The maps on Wikimedia Commons are absolutely bad. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 23:00, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
