Commons:Deletion requests/File:Polo Grounds after 1911.JPG
The photo was taken prior to 1923, but no evidence that it was actually PUBLISHED prior to 1923. B (talk) 20:19, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
- Seriously: what is the chance that anyone went to the trouble of taking an aerial photo in the 1910s for any purpose other than publication? - Jmabel ! talk 20:37, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
- For the purpose of displaying it on a wall in the team locker room? Or they took five photos while they were up there and published one of the other four, but never actually published this particular one? --B (talk) 21:06, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hard to imagine Ritter going out of his way to find an image that had never been published, but unfortunately I don't have access to a copy of his book to check the photo credit there. Does someone else? - Jmabel ! talk 02:38, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- It's pretty easy to find unpublished images - your local university library most likely has large collections of them. --B (talk) 12:13, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

I found a digital copy of the book in question, and according to the photo credits it's an Associated Press image. (https://i.imgur.com/320awKG.png) (https://i.imgur.com/2zEoMz1.jpg) Here is the link to it on the AP Images site (http://www.apimages.com/metadata/Index/Associated-Press-Sports-New-York-United-States-/0b7f492c99e4da11af9f0014c2589dfb/2/0) There is also a 2nd version of it?? (http://www.apimages.com/metadata/Index/Associated-Press-Sports-New-York-United-States-/7a22616744e5da11af9f0014c2589dfb/1/0) either way the date on them is still listed as 1/1/1921. --GusterPosey (talk) 22:04, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
- @GusterPosey: Based on the fact that it's an AP photo from 1921, I think we can accept it as now public domain. And using Google Image Search, I found a high-res version of it at [1]. I withdraw this nomination and will upload the higher-resolution version. --23:05, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
Withdrawn as it is proven to be PD --B (talk) 23:05, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
