Description A U.S. Navy Douglas A-4E Skyhawk (BuNo 150032) of Attack Squadron VA-55 Warhorses pictured in flight with bombs visible on the centerline racks and an AGM-12 Bullpup missile beneath the starboard wing. VA-55 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 14 April to 15 December 1964 and participated in the first stikes on Vietnam, beginning in August 1964.
The A-4E 150032 was later shot down by small arms fire over South Vietnam on 30 May 1967 while in service with Marine Attack Squadron 121. The pilot was killed.
