Summary

[edit]
Description Arriva Trains Wales Class 150 DMU 150257 arrives at Abercynon with the 2Y37 1051 Aberdare to Barry Island service. Abercynon is the junction of the lines from Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil, the latter of which can be seen on the right of the photo. Until 2008 the Merthyr and Aberdare branches had separate stations (Abercynon South and Abercynon North respectively), but track remodelling and reinstatement of the 'Up' side face of the platform at Abercynon South enabled that station (now named simply Abercynon) to serve both lines.
