Description
Français : Armoiries de Mgr Marie-Alphonse Sonnois en tant qu'évêque: Ecartelé : au 1 d'azur au dextrochère de carnation, habillé d'un surplis d'argent tenant une crosse d'or (le scel à impression la donne argent), qui est de l'abbaye de Saint-Seine ; au 2 d'argent à une branche de chêne englandée au naturel, qui est de Gouey, et une branche de vigne fruitée, aussi au naturel, qui est de Saintenay, posées en double rinceau ; au 3 de gueules à la palme d'or ou d'argent en pal, accompagnée de 3 cailloux d'argent 2 et 1, qui est du chapitre de Dijon (patron : saint Etienne) ; au 4 parti : au I: coupé d'azur semé de fleurdelys d'or, à la bordure componnée d'argent et de gueules, qui est de Bourgogne moderne, et bandé d'argent, alias d'or, et d'azur de 6 pièces, à la bordure de gueules (qui est de Bourgogne ancien); au II: d'azur à la demi-croix ancrée d'argent, qui est d'Auxonne. Sur le tout : parti d'or à l'aigle impériale de sable (double tête, couronnée, vol éployé), et d'azur à la croix de Lorraine d'or. A Saint-Dié le sur-le-tout n'existait pas et était remplacé par une croix de Lorraine d'or brochant.
