Notes Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) (GV) 3-447 L-Cpl. Andrew Black Steedman, New Zealand Medical Corps Citation- London Gazette, 3 June 1915, p5332 "On 27th April 1915 during operations near Kaba Tepe, for gallantly rescuing a wounded man under heavy fire, and again on the 29th April, for attending on two wounded men under heavy fire." Also mentioned in despatches, LG 5 August 1915 3-447 Andrew Black Steedman, New Zealand Medical Corps (1888-1975) Military service Served- WW1- Gallipoli where awarded DCM MID. This was the first New Zealand DCM. Also served France, Western Europe. Final rank- WOII WW2- home service. Family- His son-in-law - see Sgt. Harold Mellsop, NZMoT, 1921-
