An 1880 Baxter process illustration of Psalm 23, from the Religious Tract Society's magazine The Sunday at Home

Summary

[edit]
Description

Psalm 23, King James Version
An image of Psalm 23 (King James' Version), frontispiece to the 1880 omnibus printing of The Sunday at Home. Scanned at 800 dpi.
Text:

The Lord is my Shepherd;--I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me;--thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;--my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

This Bible illustration is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Cleaned up dirt, stains, small hairs, and other flaws due to age, fixed a few very minor misprints in this particular print, e.g. small ink blobs and slightly incomplete letters.
The right edge didn't lay entirely flat on the scanner, fixed this.
Levels adjustment against original print, some selective work on the text, to correct some fading.
One of the inks, a metallicish bronze ink, didn't scan correctly due to its slight shininess, this had to be manually corrected. (luckily, the shininess appears to have been incidental to its colour, given how it was used.

As Adam lives in Britain, which makes it incredibly easy to acquire copyright in his works, he grants, if needed, an irrevokable license to use this work however you see fit. He requests attribution where possible, and realises that "where possible" means that that request is not legally enforcable. Adam Cuerden (talk) 15:44, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
