The full capability of the AirPods Pro 2 and its use as a hearing aid will soon be available to Apple consumers in the UK. This function has long been advantageous to users in the US, but it was not as widespread abroad.

The stylish earbuds can already test hearing in the UK, but they don’t currently have the capacity to boost sound levels. This functionality already exists in other nations, such the US.

In order to implement this feature, Apple intends to deploy a software update in the coming weeks that complies with new guidelines from the Department of Health and Social Care.

Statistics show that over half of persons 55 and older suffer from hearing loss or tinnitus, with one in three adults in the UK experiencing this condition. Roughly 53 percent of people with hearing loss wear hearing aids.

How does it work?

The clinical-grade hearing aid feature of Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 is intended for people with mild to severe hearing loss. Make sure your iPhone or iPad is running iOS or iPadOS 18.1 or later and that your AirPods Pro 2 are running the most recent firmware in order to use this feature.

Use these steps to configure the Hearing Aid feature:

1. Make sure your AirPods Pro 2 are linked to your device by wearing them.

2. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, pick your AirPods, and then click ‘Hearing Assistance.’
