Hustling4Huntington’s Race for Research 2025

Team Hustling4Huntington’s is running the 2025 Los Angeles Marathon to raise crucial funds for Huntington’s disease research at the UBC Centre for Huntington Disease. Your generosity will directly support a research fellow working under Dr. Blair Leavitt at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, ensuring that crucial clinical trials continue.

Dr. Leavitt’s team is at the frontlines of pioneering genetic therapies and bringing breakthrough research from the lab to the bedside. Their work is hope in action, and we’re here to make sure it continues to bring new treatments to those affected by Huntington’s disease.

Project Description

We are Team Hustling4Huntington’s, and we’re gearing up for the 2025 Los Angeles Marathon with one clear mission: to raise $25,000 for life-changing Huntington’s disease research at the UBC Centre for Huntington Disease. This run is dedicated to the memory of Don Farris, who bravely battled Huntington’s until 2018—and to all families touched by this devastating illness.

Huntington’s disease brings immense physical and mental challenges, impacting not just those diagnosed but their loved ones too. Right now, essential clinical trials at UBC need funding to stay on track, and we need your help today to make that happen. Every dollar raised goes straight to supporting a research fellow at UBC who will work under the guidance of Dr. Blair Leavitt, a renowned Huntington’s disease neurologist and scientist at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics.

Back in 2022, we proved what we could do together by raising $32,000. This time, our goal is $25,000, with a stretch target of $50,000 to push even further. And rest assured—every dollar you donate goes to research, not our expenses for the marathon. We’re running for a purpose: to fuel the search for a cure and offer hope to families.

Please join us in this race for research. With your support, we’ll make each mile count and bring real change to those fighting Huntington’s.

Challenges and Impact of Your Support

Huntington’s disease is a tough battle, and your support can make a real difference for those fighting it.

Funding Gap: Right now, the most urgent challenge is to continue clinical trials at the UBC Centre for Huntington Disease. Without enough funding, these promising trials could slow down or stop completely. Your generous donation can help keep this life-changing research moving forward by supporting a dedicated research fellow. This will mean more progress, more hope and more chances to find a cure.

Time-Sensitivity: Time is precious for families facing Huntington’s. Every day counts. Delays in research mean waiting longer for treatments that could change lives. By supporting this initiative, you help speed up the journey from lab discoveries to real treatments for patients—what Dr. Leavitt calls the path from “bench to bedside.” Your support can help bring hope to families faster.

With your help, we can meet these challenges sooner. Let’s work together to push research forward and give hope to people affected by Huntington’s disease.
