Here are two of the first images from a personal series of alternative portraits by Levon Biss.

The images are close-up of eyes – particularly the pupil: “the windows to the soul”.

We were fascinated to learn that whilst photographing at this extreme macro level the pupil pulsates with the heartbeat – creating the challenge of a slight movement affecting focus.
