EXCLUSIVE: Paramount’s Republic Pictures label has boarded worldwide rights to horror The Monster, starring Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Day One), Lauren LaVera (Terrifier franchise) and Mia Healey (The Wilds).
Currently in production in Danbury, Connecticut, newly joining the cast are Gina Philips (Jeepers Creepers) in a first on-screen role in eight years, U.S. rapper Jacob Lukas Anderson, aka “Prof”, in a first ever screen role, Alicia Witt (Dune) and Neal McDonough (Band Of Brothers).
The Saw franchise’s Darren Lynn Bousman is directing from a screenplay by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane). Pic was developed and is being produced by Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road) alongside Saw franchise producer Mark Burg. Executive producer is Lukas Behnken. Co-producers include Jonathan M. Black and Lauren Black.
The Monster follows two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them.

Rounding out the cast are Michael Lombardi, David Call, Victor Del Rio, Cedric Benjamin, Zac Jaffee, Renés Rivera, Hari Bhaskar, and Kristina Krasniqi.
Lynn Bousman has directed four movies in the Saw franchise, while producer Burg has been aboard for every instalment.
