Saturday Night Live is starting to bring back former cast members to host the show this season.
Chris Rock and Martin Short are among the hosts set for December as the NBC show closes out 2024, leading into its big Season 50 extravaganza in the new year.
Rock was a cast member from 1990-1993, while Short, who created characters such as Jiminy Glick, was a cast member for only one season, 1984-1985.
Rock will host December 14 alongside musical guest Gracie Abrams, while Short will host December 21 alongside Hozier as musical guest.
On December 7, as revealed on SNL’s last show before Thanksgiving break, Gladiator II star Paul Mescal will host alongside “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” singer Shaboozey.
Watch on Deadline
Rock is returning for his fourth time hosting, having previously done it in October 2020, November 2014 and November 1996. Abrams, who recently released her The Secret of Us album, is making her debut.
Short previously hosted twice by himself, in December 1996 and December 2012. In December 1986, he hosted alongside his fellow Three Amigos stars Chevy Chase and Steve Martin, and he teamed again with Martin, who he stars alongside in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, in December 2022. “Take Me To Church” singer Hozier returns for the second time, having previously appeared during Season 40 in October 2014 alongside host Bill Hader.
SNL, which was created by Lorne Michaels, who exec produces, will mark its 50th anniversary with a primetime special Sunday, February 16.
