Maybe when I was a child I didn’t understand its earthy and flavourless taste. However, when I grew up, I found that it can taste great when you add different add-ins. Despite its versatile nature, hummus is a healthy dish with lots of benefits.

Making hummus at home is simple and easy. Not too many professional skills, just imagination and some ingredients.
I adore hummus and try to always replace it on meatless days. More flavours, spices, herbs, and your hummus taste heavenly. A sandwich filled with fresh, crunchy veggies and homemade hummus is simply lingering and ultra-tasty.
The ingredients for this comfort hummus sandwich for 2 persons:
1 can of chickpeas
one ripe avocado
1 cucumber
1 carrot
½ red onion
1-2 cloves of garlic
Some cherries
Some dried tomatoes
Arugula or any other green leaves you have
Some lemon juice for hummus flavour
Some preserved in oil mushrooms to adjust the taste, optional
Homemade hummus is quick to make and fast to assemble. Take a hand blender and mix the chickpeas, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 tbsp of olive oil, spices, and 2-3 dried tomatoes for saltiness and more flavour. Mix well until it looks like a fine paste. It takes about 2-3 minutes to blend well the hummus.
Next step is to assemble the sandwich. Optional you can toast the bread, grill or use it as it is.
Spread some amount of hummus on one slice of bread and top over raw veggies. Spread some amount of hummus on the other slice of bread and top it over the veggies. Simple and easy. Now you can enjoy a delicious, healthy, and flavourful hummus sandwich. It is perfect for any time of the day.
