The free pre-DENIM optional activity will be held at one of the most exciting museums in downtown Washington, DC, the National Air and Space Museum. The 90-minute, docent led tour is scheduled for Monday, 16 of September from 12:30pm-2:00pm, and will be followed by registration back at the hotel and then the Welcome Reception (see Conference Schedule).
The docent corp at the Museum is made up of knowledgeable volunteers, including former NASA employees, pilots, engineers, and historians.
If you are interested in participating in this optional activity, please check the box during the registration process so that enough docents can be set-up to accommodate those attending.
Travel to and from the tour is the responsibility of the registrant but it is an easy metro ride from the hotel to the Mall of Washington DC where you will find many of the Washington DC museums and historic icons. Most of the museums in DC open at 10am but there are several outdoor icons and memorials that can be viewed at any time.

Directions from the Hotel and Conference Center using public transportation (~1 hour):
Exit the hotel and walk to the left down Marinelli Road to the White Flint Metro Station. From the White Flint Metro Station take the RED line to the Gallery Place Metro Station and switch to the YELLOW or the GREEN line. Take the YELLOW or GREEN line to the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station. Exit the L’Enfant Plaza Station and walk 1 block north up 7th Street SW. Take a right onto Independence Ave SW and the museum will be the first building on your left. The tour group will be meeting in the main lobby of the museum at 12:15pm.
