Best known for: “Breaking through in the 2010 EDM bubble/era. Before that, it was writing David Guetta’s first No.1 hit that featured Kelly Rowland — ‘When Love Takes Over’.”
Linchpins in the Top 100 DJs poll, twin sisters Liv and Mim — better known now as NERVO — have ben fiercely reigning in the EDM sphere for well over a decade. As well as slaying dancefloors in synchronicity, the pair — who also started families at the same time — have been trailblazing, sharing their experiences and setting the bar high as working mums. “Our gigs and music keep us grounded and in a happy place,” they explain. “We really just try and create as much as possible.” A case in point this summer was when their ‘Voices’ anthem with 22Bullets and Naeleck dropped on Dharma Worldwide, instantly recognisable with its transcending chants.
Future projects will be plentiful as they reveal that more work in the studio is planned while juggling family life. “Lots of ideas at one time,” they tell DJ Mag. There’s exciting news that their first release on Future House Music is the disco-kissed ‘Talk About Us’ with Plastik Funk, featuring Julia Temos. “And we actually worked on some K-pop stuff recently too.” Forever pushing forward, NERVO set the pace for themselves and others to follow.
Fave tune of 2024?
“‘Move’, by Adam Port, Stryv, Keinemusik, Orso & Malachiii.”
Rising star DJ/producer of 2024?
“Keinemusik, Jazzy, Malugi and Hugel (sorry, couldn’t choose, they’re all so awesome!).”
Could DJs do more to ensure that producers are fairly paid for their art?
“YES! They could and should credit their collaborators, for a start.”
Should phones be banned on the dance floor?
“No — we personally love to have a photographic recording of some of the best moments of our lives. As long as it doesn’t take over the entire evening, which it never does for us.”
A.I. - friend or foe?
“Oooh, tough one. Right now, friend. Long run, could be foe.”
What’s your lucky charm?
“Each other.”
