Abstract:
This position paper describes the design of a text-message intervention that uses behavior change theory to help design the intervention to improve patients’ diet and physical activity. The text-message intervention aims to guide patients to improve their self-efficacy in managing their disease to reduce complications and hospital readmissions and improve health-related outcomes, well-being, and quality of life. Design Science Research methodology is used to support problem definition, design, development, and evaluation of a sustainable, useful, and valuable artifact.
