Kieran Culkin told E! News on the 2024 Gotham Awards red carpet on Monday that his two children, Kinsey and Wilder, have yet to watch the ‘90s classic Home Alone. This was quite a surprising revelation, as the movie is not just a timeless holiday staple but also stars his kids’ uncle, Macaulay Culkin, as the main character.
Kieran shares his son and daughter with Jazz Charton, whom he married in 2013. They welcomed Kinsey six years later and Wilder in 2021. Unlike Kieran, Macaulay let one of his sons, Dakota, see Home Alone, and the little boy found it funny.
Why the kids haven’t watched Kieran Culkin in Home Alone
Kieran explained at the event’s venue in New York that he is shielding his children from the scary parts, such as the tarantula and the guy in the end that threatens to bite off Kevin McAliister’s fingers. The doting father thinks such scenes might be too much for his 3-year-old, hence why he is taking his time.
The 42-year-old expressed consideration at letting his kids finally see their uncle play little McAllister in the ‘90s holiday movie. He said they might be ready this Christmas or the next. Home Alone is rated PG, which means it may contain material parents might find unsuitable for young children and should be played at their discretion.
‘Home Alone’ in 2024
It has been 34 years since 10-year-old Macaulay played the mischievous McAllister boy. The character brought him immediate Hollywood fame, and he got to reprise it in the Home Alone 2 sequel in 1992. Macaulay retired from acting in the mid-90s, with a few appearances in the early 2000s.
Now 44, Macaulay still leads a relatively private life but is currently on a holiday tour featuring the screening of Home Alone. He is on the road until December 15 and will touch down in cities in Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Missouri, and a few more.
