Village Square [31x30] Exterior + Interiors

Weathered cobblestone clatters under your boots as you approach the village square, and the faint scent of cooking stew from one of these simple thatch-roofed houses wafts past your nose. Pigs squeal and chickens cluck from a fenced in yard, and here and there, the villagers get on with another day's work.

It's been awhile since I've done a proper Town/Village map at battlemap scale, especially using many of the new assets and techniques I've been building up over the last few years, so I gave the village from the Midwinter Celebration map a makeover, without the snow and festive adornments, and gave all of the buildings furnished interiors. Asset pack included that adds 60+ additional pieces of decor and dressing appropriate for the sort of village adventurers are likely to run into during their travels.

The Druid's Treehouse, 25x30

Birdsong draws you closer to this massive tree, looming in a serene glade in the forest, but those sprawling branches under the shaded canopy house more than trilling canaries. A winding stair climbs to the tree's trunk, a circular door in its center, branchlike railings surround several balconies shelved with rows of plants of all sorts, and all seasons, growing with suspicious fecundity.

The Jagged Pinnacle, 50x60

January's XL battlemap.

The wind howls between the jagged spires sprouting from the mountainside, as if pained by the sharp ridges adorning its surface. The ground is craggy rock, winding up and around toward the peak in a slow spiral. A rockslide or an errant boulder might spell doom for any travelers here, to say nothing of the threat of impalement a tumble down the slope would entail.

Midwinter Celebration, 25x30

Between the straw-thatched, snow-covered rooves friends and neighbors gather around a large pine tree decorated with baubles, and surrounded by wrapped gifts. Warm pies, kegs of cider, and hot stew keep the bustling participants warm and cheeks rosy, even amid the Midwinter chill in the air, the laughter and sound of children caroling along with the Christmas Treant inviting all to share a seat, take a rest, and enjoy the spirit of the season.

I wanted to make a large, sweeping, double-sized landscape map and take a shot at giving trees a real sense of height and depth, so I put together some new assets and tried to create a frontier-style alpine rocky wilderness type of map. I'm quite pleased with it overall, and hope it presents an interesting locale for your next outdoor encounter!

Crumbling Cavern, 26x39

As you step into the cavern, the air grows thick with a musty, damp scent in this hollow space. The cavern walls, once robust and imposing, now crumble and crack, revealing their ancient age. The floor is uneven with broken fragments of rock. Beyond a perch at the North of the cavern, an eerie sight unfolds: giant spider webs span across the area, their silken threads glistening with moisture. The webs stretch from floor to ceiling, intricate and deadly, like the handiwork of some monstrous weaver. Shadows play tricks on your eyes, hinting at movement within the web's depths, and you can't shake the feeling that unseen eyes are watching your every move.

The Arcane Arcade, 19x30, up on patreon!

As you make your way down the cobblestone streets, a sound catches your ear. A loud and piercing trill of merry beeping, and as you make your way closer, you see why. Blinking neon lights and the clamor of patrons of all ages is hard to miss as they make their way into the Arcane Arcade. A novel establishment courtesy of an enterprising and eccentric sorcerer. These magical devices display places and worlds unseen, games viewed through a crystal ball, for a mere gold piece.

They've got it all, banks of games of all sorts, horse-racing simulators, dancing competitions complete with animated instrumental accompaniment, an Animated Armor to defeat in the boxing ring, a Mage Hand claw machine, skeeball, pinball, drinks, and prizes. Have a friendly competition and blow off a few hours' steam with your adventuring companions, or compete for tickets and snag yourself an Owlbear plushie.

Tents and Carts, asset pack up on patreon!

I wanted to make a more comprehensive set of assets for camping adventurers, especially since many that I have are quite outdated at this point. Tents fit for hunters, adventurers, or a military encampment, plus a few little carts that I put together for travelers or tinkerers.

Dungeondraft pack included!

This ruin was once a remote community tucked away in the hills along the ocean shore, but has long since fallen into disrepair. The locals prefer not to speak of the place, but the corpses burned and hung as a warning to any others that approach. The sad tale of this place may not be of great concern however, as new residents have made use of the place and its disturbing reputation...

Within, the tomb's chambers stretch deep into the mountain, their walls lined with niches filled with the dead. The air is heavy with the scent of earth and history, whispering tales of long-forgotten rulers and their eternal resting place. The winding tomb within the mountain is overgrown with the roots that had crept in through cracks in the stone. The ceiling drips with moisture, and the walls are slick with moss, giving the impression that nature itself is reclaiming the space. Some corridors have collapsed, their rubble creating obstacles that had to be navigated carefully.

At the heart of the tomb lays an imposing throne room, its grandeur still evident despite the decay. A stone throne sat atop a dais, flanked by a looming arch.

The mountain barrow tomb juts from the rugged terrain of the mountain's peak, its weathered stones blending with the natural rock formations. Massive stone arches, intricately carved with ancient symbols and motifs, adorned the entrance, creating an imposing yet eerily beautiful facade. The arches loomed overhead, casting long shadows that danced in the flickering light. At the barrow's entrance, a large and ancient door still stands, rusted in place by an age of neglect, guarding the final resting place of the inhabitants of a bygone age.
